On 28 July, Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav marked his birthday by launching the Gomati Foundation - a social welfare initiative for education, healthcare and community development across Mormugao Taluka.
Named in memory of his mother, the Foundation was inaugurated by Goa Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho in the presence of BJP Goa President Damu Naik, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, panch members, social workers and a large gathering of local residents.
School Premises Dedicated & Free Ambulance Flagged Off
As part of the inaugural programme, a newly developed government school premises was dedicated to students. A free ambulance service was also flagged off under the Foundation to provide emergency medical assistance, particularly for families unable to afford private medical transport.
Earlier reporting noted that additional classrooms at the Government School in Dabolim enable upgradation from primary (up to Class V) to secondary education up to Class X - with enrolment having grown from around 40 students to more than 150 following years of school-bus support and infrastructure help.
Complete Education for 10 Students Every Year
A key initiative announced by the Foundation is the sponsorship of the complete education of 10 students from economically weaker families every year. Beneficiaries will be selected from different parts of Mormugao Taluka so that financial hardship does not hinder their studies.
Blood Donation & Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam
The celebrations featured community service aligned with the Foundation’s objectives: a blood donation camp with enthusiastic volunteer participation, and a large-scale tree plantation drive under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign.
Dignitaries welcomed the launch and expressed confidence that education, healthcare and environmental initiatives would positively impact lives across Mormugao Taluka. The Foundation has pledged to continue social welfare projects for the region’s overall development.
